Technical Support Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Wimba, the leader in web-based collaboration software designed for online education, language learning and live interactive communications, is currently looking for a motivated Technical Support Specialist.  This is a great position for an individual interested in further maturing a career in the testing, development and interactive atmosphere and looking for an expanding career path within a growing company.


  • Manage support tickets and work directly with users over email and telephone in providing support for Wimba products
  • Gather information for product bugs and manage communication between customer and development
  • Assist with setting up servers for Technical Support and Quality Assurance
  • Contribute to support knowledge base
  • Contribute to the overall positive customer experience through customer facing interactions and internal initiatives

REQUIREMENTS:


  • Experience with Operating Systems
    • Win 2000/XP, Mac OSX, Linux

  • Familiar with Internet Browsers and plug-ins
    • Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari

  • Familiar with MS-Word and MS-PowerPoint
  • Understanding of web design/development
  • Familiar with basic networking and TCP/IP
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Demonstrated customer service experience
  • BS in CS/CE or similar

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:


  • Working knowledge of HTML/XML/PHP/CSS/PERL
  • Experience with using MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Experience with Apache, IIS, Tomcat
  • Blackboard or WebCT knowledge a plus
