UK Ministry of Defence Police To Utilize Horizon Wimba's Diploma Campus For Examinations

LONDON, UK – (March 7, 2007) – Horizon Wimba, the leading provider of collaboration tools and software applications to the online education market, announced today that the United Kingdom Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) will utilize Horizon Wimba’s e-assessment system, Diploma Campus, to construct and deliver its internal promotion examinations.

Inspector Sean White of the MDP is pleased to be working with Horizon Wimba. “ We believe that the company’s experience and understanding of the assessment industry, coupled with its sophisticated tools, should enable us to increase the efficiency of our examination processes”, said Inspector White.

Diploma is a Windows-based application that allows instructors to bring a textbook’s assessments online and even into their virtual learning environments. Instructors can create and edit questions, drag-and-drop questions to create quizzes quickly and easily, and then publish them automatically to their online course or print them for paper-based assignments. Diploma is one of numerous tools offered by Horizon Wimba which enable colleges, universities, and other organizations add a more collaborative nature to their e-learning programs.

About MDP
The MDP is a specialised police force operating within Britain’s defence community. Whilst performing in some part a civil police role, in the same manner as any of Britain’s local police forces, the main MDP concentration is focused on performing a major armed security role at defence sites requiring a high level of protection, including the guarding of Britain’s nuclear deterrent.
MDP is a national police force, headquartered near Braintree in Essex, but deployed at over 100 MOD sites across Britain, from RAF Culdrose in Cornwall to the Clyde Naval Base in Scotland.
It polices in a challenging environment, with a constant high level of threat from international terrorism. Many of its tasks are security oriented - safeguarding the perimeters of important military bases or protecting against the sabotage of assets and the threat of terrorist incursion, work which requires exceptionally high levels of vigilance.
